HAPPY ASIA'S CORONA OLYMPIC
The biggest trophy America will be getting out of this
alleged virus warfare could be the cancelling of the
Tokyo Olympics.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, America organized protest
rallies all round the world. I personally encountered a
few such incidents of saboteur.
In my own school, University of California, Berkeley,
one keynote speaker at an introductory conference to
promote the Beijing Olympics concluded in her
otherwise informative speech with a remark:" When
the dust finally settles, the ghost of 1949 will come
back!"。 1949 was the year China was liberated from all
colonization.
The Chinese Consulate people were guests at the
meeting and sitting among the audiences. So, this
out-of-place snap was intentional.
I was waiting for the Chinese to respond. When there
was none, I raised my hand to prevent the presentation
from being adjourned before I had a chance to speak
my peace:" Are you sure it's not the ghost of 1839?"
That's the year the Opium War started in China,
bringing to China a century of Opium Holocaust, which
to this day has been largely ignored by most people.
Then, later on, when I went to the Chinese Consulate in
San Francisco, to get a visa to China, I saw a huge
protest rally by a large group of Chinese, while across
from the 6-lane street in the background, many CIA
types were waving truck-size flags to cheer them on.
I naturally confronted the protest and asked:" Are you
guys Chinese?" It took them a good 10 seconds to
reply:" We are Tibetans." Then I asked them why they
protest here against their own country, China?
They told me that they didn't like the way China has
been trying to modernize Tibet. Well, that made us
comrades, as I, for one, also preferred the old feudal
way of China. So, we quickly become friends. And
they were hospital enough to serve me some mineral
water, that I gratefully accepted, along with many other
visa appliers, who were still in a hot debate against the
Tibetan protesters.
Why not? We are all Chinese!
In the coming Tokyo Olympics, all we need to
remember is that: We are all Asians.
And as a fair warning to the Japanese, I would like to
describe the "inside story" about how America
boycotted the foreign attendance to the Olympic at
Beijing in 2008. According to many local hotel
operators, their businesses were way down, instead of
up, as expected. The large spectator attendance we
saw on TV were mostly consisted of students and
soldier the central government had to bus in from
remote regions.
Now, what should we do?
The whole Asia should come together to make the
Tokyo Olympics a success. Japan, Korea and China
should immediately establish a "Corona Team"
especially for maintaining the health of all the
attendees of the Olympics.
Japan should do the torch routing right through Wuhan,
to be accompanied by the largest possible camera crew.
Starting from this point on, Japan, China and the Koreas
should act as one, particularly in a joint effort to
accommodate our honored guest of the coronavirus.
My brother, Bob, a dual Japan and China expert, and I, a
software automation pioneer and senior pingpong
champion, will travel to Japan to help coordinate and
troubleshoot this project.
Let me leave this rallying cry to salvage our Olympics
with an innovation whose effective implementation
could spell the success or failure of our project.
This is an open quarantine facilitation. Its function is
to allow productive interaction among the travelling
officials in our team, such as my brother and me.
Physically, it simply consists of hotel rooms subdivided
by glass partitions to isolate those guests who are put in
quarantines from their visitors, but still facilitate their
productive interactions. The saving of the 14 days of
quarantine will remove the detrimental obstacles to
global travels by the members of our team.
